Messi Cancels Trip To Turkey For Eto’o’s Charity Game After Attempted Coup
Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, has reportely cancelled plans to
travel to Turkey for Samuel Eto’o’s charity match, following a military
coup d’etat in the country.
The Argentine was scheduled to fly in on Saturday, but tanks and soldiers have take over the streets of Turkish capital, Ankara, on Friday and Messi will now stay in Ibiza with his family.
An official club statement on Twitter reads: “FC Barcelona players Andres Iniestaere set to play a friendly match in Turkey organized by former Barca star Samuel Eto’o are in Spain.
“FC Barcelona player Arda Turan, former players Carles Puyol, Deco and Eric Abidal, as well as former director Alejandro Echevarria, are in Turkey, from from areas of danger and in constant contact with the club.”
